Lam Can-zhao is a Chinese filmmaker. In 2023, he produced, wrote and edited A Bright Sunny Day, selected for La Cinef at the 76th Cannes Film Festival. In 2024, his short film A Summer’s End Poem, which he wrote, directed, produced and edited, won the Special Prize of the International Jury for Best Short Film at the 74th Berlinale Generation Kplus and was later longlisted for Best Live Action Short Film at the 98th Academy Awards. He made his feature directorial debut at the age of 20 with The Dog. In 2026, his feature Where the Sun Shines Bright had its world premiere at the 48th Moscow International Film Festival.
To date, his films have received more than 800 festival selections worldwide, including the Shanghai International Film Festival, Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Visions du Réel, Jeonju International Film Festival, Sarajevo Film Festival, Raindance Film Festival, Hawaii International Film Festival, Valencia International Film Festival and Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur.
