Logline: When a single mother learns that she has terminal cancer, she prepares her young daughter for a life without her, while saying goodbye to others around her.

Synopsis: Our interpretation of the Wedding Dress is a heartbreaking drama about Dalin, a terminally ill single mother and wedding dress designer who works to prepare her young daughter, Mina, for a life without her. As her health declines, she tries to fulfil both her concerns and wishes for her daughter's future. It is also a story of incredible strength that contrasts with the characters’ inevitable fate. We delved deeper into their relationships taking on and exploring using music to link their relationship, expanding on scenes in the original around a song the mom likes, and it becomes a moment they share together.

Terminally ill single mother Dalin lives alone with her young daughter, Mina. As her time begins to run out, Dalin quietly prepares her daughter for the future—teaching her independence, mending the relationships around her, and hoping that, even after she is gone, Mina will continue to be embraced by a world filled with kindness. As Dalin's condition worsens, every ordinary moment they share becomes a treasured memory. When parting is finally inevitable, Dalin leaves Mina not only with a promise embodied in a wedding dress, but also with a love and courage that transcend life itself, guiding her as she grows.

Director's Statement:

Growing up in an Asian cultural context, I have always believed that the most profound moments within a family are often found in the quiet rhythms of everyday life. What drew me to Wedding Dress was not simply its story of loss, but the portrait of a mother striving to remain part of her child's future, even as her own life draws to an end.
Rather than creating a straightforward remake, I hope to let this story take root in the cultural and emotional landscape of Cambodia. With its strong family bonds and rapidly changing society, Cambodia offers a new perspective through which the story can resonate with contemporary audiences. Through restrained, naturalistic filmmaking, I seek to capture the subtle yet enduring emotions that exist between people. More than a film about farewell, Wedding Dress is ultimately about how love continues beyond absence, and how the quiet acts of care we leave behind become the strength that carries those we love forward.
